Fasting may sound scary, difficult or impossible in the first place. I understand how you feel. If you’ve been on 3x, 6x or 10x meals a day for years, fasting could be something beyond imagination. Why Not Fasting To Lose Weight
Few people will tell you that fasting weight loss is a healthy act. Why? Because there are many people who want to make money from people who want to lose weight. Cereals companies advertise heavily by promoting how important breakfast is; diet programs and recipes producers want to sell more of their products. Not to mention luxury gyms want to recruit more members in order to charge them extremely expensive fees.
99 doctors out of a hundred will not suggest fasting weight loss. Their license which they spent years of hard work to acquire will be challenged.
So why am I here to talk about fasting weight loss?
Well, because it works. It does not only work for me, it works for many. I’m sure it will work for you. And if you manage it properly along with some regular exercises, it will produce lifetime effects.
Why Fasting Weight Loss
A fast cleans up the body. If you bath once a week, you may spend an hour in bathing. If you bath everyday, it may be just a matter of minutes. Fasting works in a similar manner. Prolong fasting cleans up your body, your colon and your bloodstream; short term intermittent fasting can do the same.
A Clean Body Needs Less Food. If your car engine is clean, the same amount of fuel will let you run more mileage; in other words, you need less fuel to run the same mileage. Our bodies work similarly. Food is absorbed and utilized better in a clean digestive system. Your clean body will need less food to run. That is common sense. We don’t need research reports, surveys or clinical tests to prove that.
How To Make Fasting Weight Loss Work
Review your eating habit. Today, we have a world of chronically tired, sick, rapidly ageing, overweight and mentally clouded persons around us. Unfortunately they are still being told to eat more often. Or eat like a king over breakfast, like a queen over lunch and so on. Well, eating 3x, 6x or 10x a day is your choice. Have you made the best choice? Review your eating habit and see if there is another way which might be better for you, if you see a need to improve health and lose some weight.

Learn to control food desire. Fasting on a periodic basis allows you to gradually gain control over your appetite. Learn to control your desire for food. When you successfully merge short term periodic fasting into your life, you will not feel hungry when you end your fast. You are not hungry, but the desire to eat is there. There is a big difference between actual hunger and desire for food.
Prepare for a lifestyle change. This is the ONLY way any type of permanent weight loss becomes effective. You must have a change of thought pattern and a change of lifestyle. If you go back to your old destruction way of eating, you’ll soon gain back the weight you lost through fasting.
Some Ways To Do Fasting Weight Loss
I would recommend your fasting on a regular basis. This allows the body to both rest and cleans itself. As I said, a clean body requires less food to run. If you could do some exercise to burn off excess fat, weight loss can never be easier. If you do fasting and exercise regularly, there is no way for you to get fat again.
My recommendation for new fasters is as follows.
These are practical programs that most people can follow.
Fast Once Per Week – 40 Hours - For beginners, set a regular time each week is a good practice. Make an agreement with your spouse, so he or she can decide whether or not to fast along with you. If not, a planned schedule make it easier for him/her to plan other activities while you are fasting and not eating with him/her.
For the 40-hour weekly fast, your schedule may look like this. Say Tuesday is your fasting day:
Monday – Eat until 3pm (or 4pm if you wish)
Tuesday - Distilled Water only
Wednesday - 7am (or 8am) Break fast with fresh fruit and juice
Of course this is just an illustration. You can design your own fasting schedule to suit your needs and discipline level. You may have to start with an 8 hour fast, or a fast of just one meal a day. Do some experiments and there must be a way that suits you best.
When fasting gradually merges into your life, you can make it completely flexible and enjoy eating almost any time you want to.
Fast Once Per Year – Minimum 7 Days - Like the bathing example I mentioned above, if you are busy, you can do fasting at least once a year, with a minimum duration of 7 days. 10 days could be better. If it is boring, making it a fasting holiday. Mark your calendar as to do it at a similar time every year, such as after your birthday or when a new year begins.
My boss goes to Koh Samui once a year for a 10-day fast. Every time he comes back like another person – slimmer, refresh, energetic and most important of all, he looks much younger. There are lots of fasting resorts around in Koh Samui. As far as I know, there are some juice fasting properties in the US as well.
Final Thoughts
Fasting is a way to control desire. If you successfully control your food desire, you’ll be able to control other things about yourself. As you become master over one thing, it will lead to mastery over many.
Fasting works, but you have to make it work for you. It is not easy in the beginning, but nothing worthwhile ever is. It takes energy and effort to change your mindset and your eating habit.
