Hi there - Just wanted to give an update on my progress.
I started fasting 2 months ago and it is going very well. So far I have lost 15lbs. Modest loss, but I have been pretty easy going about it which works best for me. I know if I get too strict I will quit. Also, it has taken a bit of trial and error to find exactly what works for me.
So far what has worked best is water fasting until noon each day and watching my calories. Once a week I have a "free day" when I eat whatever I want - but still only after noon. That has worked pretty well, but it is slow and I know if I do more fasting, I can do less calorie counting.
So last week I started doing alternating days of juice fasting and regular eating, still waiting until noon to start eating (or drinking). I still watch my calories and keep it to about 500 on the juice day and 1300 on the regular day. I walk about an hour each day and do small upper body weights. I still have a free day and pig out once a week.
The juice fast days are suprisingly easy, so I know I will be able to stick with this new change. I remain flexible about it to accomodate unexpected eating plans. I find this does not make a big difference overall and really helps me stay with it.
Hopefully this will speed things up a little. I would like to get to 115-120 which was my "set point" weight all my life until the past few years.
Overall I am extremely happy with my progress and love the fasting approach to weight loss. I feel much healthier and look much better too.
Thanks again for all the info and support!
Editor's Notes: Congratulation! Patricia, well done. It seems fasting for weight loss is under your control and achieving your expected results. Though it takes a little longer than other so-called fast track weight loss methods, but I can guarantee that only you are committed to this change in eating hapit will enable a long term and successful weight control. Keep going.
